Boycott the Rosie O’Donnell Variety Show

Now its official NBC does lean very much to the left. How can any company stand by an entertainer that has such a foul mouth as Rosie O’Donnell? I don’t care about her sexual persuasion or her politics but I do care that she has caused some people to believe the crap she spews. Does NBC want to attract controversies with her liberal views? She became a polarizing figure to many in this country with the craziness she talks about.

Her views on gun control, President Bush’s domestic and foreign policies, Iraq War, Donald Trump, anti-Catholicism, and the coup degas her views on the 9/11 are so anti American and alienating that how could NBC even consider giving her, her own venue. I could go on and on about her very left wing opinions but my point is the same. Shame on NBC and GE for allowing this woman a place to spew her opinions without opposition on primetime.

I don’t want to sound like a right winger, just the opposite. I think a variety show similar to the ones on TV in the 60’s and 70’s might be a good thing (though not my type of entertainment) but not with a host like Rosie O’Donnell.

NBC you should be ashamed of yourselves. US public, boycott Rosie O’Donnell and get her off the air and her shows cancelled.

I have shoulder surgery

Shoulder surgery

Additional photos here.

On November 14th I had a left shoulder arthroscopy completed with no complications. I’m hoping that the pain that I’ve felt in my shoulder for years will be gone soon. This will give me the ability to start swimming again. I’m hoping for a late summer triathlon in 09. My first since Hawaii Ironman 2002.

The surgery was simple enough. On Friday morning I was prepped for surgery and by 5:00pm I was home. The surgeon indicated that I was lucky with the amount of damage in the shoulder. He had thought from reviewing the MRI that he was going to cut me open and do some major repairs. But after he got in there he only had to repair the tear and clean up the joint. I conceder it a tune up.

The first 72 hours I was reasonably pain free and all I needed to do was keep a special ice pack on my shoulder. That Saturday and Sunday I did go out and watch my daughter’s soccer games suggesting that the surgery wasn’t bad enough to debilitate me. After the the first 72 hours I could finally take a shower and remover most of the bandages. I applied water proof bandages to protect the stitches. That may have been the best shower I’ve taken in years.

I returned to work on Tuesday morning, but it became a struggle to function. Believe it or not the pain in my shoulder has become more severe as time goes on. The shoulder itself is becoming more flexible and functioning better each day. Yet the pain has made it difficult to work at my desk. The operation is by no means pain free. Most of pain comes during the recovery period.

On Thursday morning I had the stitches removed and can now go without the sling. The pain is still at times difficult to deal with. This has been a surprise to me since I thought the pain would be more severe right after surgery than a week later.

I feel that I’m making great progress and I think by the first of the year I’ll be back to normal but without the past shoulder pain.

Circuit City files Chapter 11

circus city bye bye

I think everyone who knew anything about Circuit City or the electronic retail sales business knew they were going to fail at sometime.

When Circuit City let all their commissioned sales people go a few years ago, I knew time was limited for the once over confident company. Many customers may not like dealing with commissioned sales people but the sales and service staff makes or breaks the customer experience. Most experienced sales people understand the products they sell and help the customer make the right purchase that they’ll be happy with. When you add only hourly employees who are usually teenagers just trying to collect a paycheck, you start to lose your creditability. I noticed the last time I went into a City store I overheard one kid trying to explain Monster cable to a young couple without any real facts; it was embarrassing to hear such a lame explanation of HDMI. I wanted to jump in and help the kid out.

With sales people that lack product training and no financial reason to try to close the deal and add an antiquated store it was no surprise that Circuit City is another electronic store to fail. Just as the Good Guys, Comp USA, Wiz, Crazy Eddie, Highland Appliance and Federated all failed the same way. And I really miss Crazy Eddie!
